Less Is More is awarded internationally
OLI has won the Red Dot Award 2021 and iF Design Award 2021 - the world's most important design awards - with the Less Is More flush plate designed by Italian architect Alessio Pinto (Rome, 1968).
Less Is More is, as the name implies, inspired by the "less is more" principle by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969). This flush plate takes on a strong eclectic and functional identity. The traditional flush buttons give way to two cords that take us back in time to visualise the first sanitary mechanisms in history.
Less Is More, manufactured in stainless steel, invites us to a new look on this object, becoming the star of any bathroom decor, be it vintage, contemporary or minimalist.
Alessio Pinto also wanted to design an intuitive sign and explains: "At a glance, we understand the meaning of the plus and minus of the water flush. The strings - plus and minus short - take on the function of analogue signals to induce a clear and immediate action. Here there are no signs or symbols to decipher, there is only a choice made with the first glance. We believe that this instant understanding makes this sign very original and empathetic."
Awarded the RED Dot Award 2021 in the Product Design category, Less Is More captivated the international jury, which evaluated it as an "excellent product design". In this edition of the award, which has already been in existence for six decades distinguishing the best in design worldwide, 60 countries took part.
By winning the iF Design Award - organised by iF International Forum Design GmbH - Less Is More stood out among 3,693 projects from 52 countries. In 2021 edition, the jury was made up of 98 international design experts who evaluated the projects using five criteria: idea, form, function, differentiation and impact.
Less Is More is now available to be integrated with the OLI120 Plus, OLI74 PLUS, Expert Plus and Quadra Plus in-wall cisterns.
