OLI MANUFACTURES FACE SHIELD SUPPORTS TO DONATE TO HOSPITALS
OLI makes its industrial contribution to the national fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, producing a face shield support that will help protect health professionals in the treatment of patients with the new coronavirus.
20 thousand units will be manufactured per week and 80 thousand per month, in the factory that is working 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This individual protection material will be delivered, free of charge, to the hospitals across Portugal.
The engineering skills of OLI Moldes, a modern industrial unit that OLI inaugurated two years ago in its industrial complex, were decisive for the development of this project.
“OLI was challenged by ERISING and INEGI to produce, under industrial conditions and quantities, a face shield support to deliver to hospitals. We quickly adapted to the plastic injection technology the support design of the individual protection visor, developed by the collaborative project involving ISEP and FEUP-INEGI / LAETA. This face shield model has the particularity of having two versions, with or without a top cover, depending on its hospital use, in combination with other protective equipment. This is one of the pieces of equipment that health professionals need most to fight the pandemic, so we accepted this challenge at the first moment”, explains OLI President, António Oliveira.
