OLI presents the first edition of OLI TALKS
Aiming to listen to professionals who work directly in the architecture sector, OLI launched the first edition of OLI Talks, a project that is here to stay.
On 3rd November, at World of Wine - Porto, OLI organized the first edition of OLI Talks. With the theme "Architecture, Functionality and Beauty", OLI gathered professionals from the field of architecture in a relaxed atmosphere for an evening of sharing experiences and opinions.
João Vieira from AO-LX, Ricardo Senos and Sofia Senos from M2Senos, Julião Pinto Leite from OODA, José Manuel Carvalho Araújo from Atelier Carvalho Araújo, Pedro Lima da Costa from PLC Arquitectura, Nuno Costa from Atelier DoisArquitectos, and Paulo Martins from Atelier Paulo Martins Arquitectura & Design, were the people present in this first edition.
Each architect had the opportunity to present some of their projects as well as give their opinion about the central theme of the event. At the end there was time for a round table where themes such as sustainability, the future of projects in Portugal and also water efficiency were discussed.
"The functionality is the intelligence of us getting around the process."
João Vieira, Founder of AO-LX, shared with those present his vision on functionality stating that for the architects of AO-LX "The functionality is the intelligence of us getting around the process."
In turn, he considers that "beauty can and should be communicated in a very didactic and transversal way" in an architecture project where the word "strategy" is the most important word during the whole process.
"The limit of beauty is our imagination."
Carvalho Araújo, renowned architect of the national panorama, during his presentation shared some of his recent projects, namely the House in Caniçada and at the end he stated that "the limit of beauty is our imagination", reinforcing the idea that we must be bold and bet on our own creativity.
For OLI this is a project that begins with horizons already drawn and defined to replicate editions already next year, expanding the spectrum of guests and themes in different locations.
